Do my PDFs get uploaded?

No. PdfKit reads the file in this browser tab and builds the download on your device. Closing the tab discards it from page memory. We do not receive the contents of your PDFs.

The merge, split, and compress tools run in your browser. The page loads the scripts once; your document is never sent to our servers to be processed.

What are the file limits?

Each PDF can be up to 40 MB and 200 pages. Merge accepts up to 15 files. Phones have less memory — if a tab feels slow, use a laptop, fewer pages, or a smaller file. These caps exist because browser tabs, not our servers, do the work.

Will compression always make my PDF smaller?

Not always. A text-only PDF that is already compact often cannot shrink much. PdfKit shows the before and after sizes. If the result is not smaller, we keep your original and say so instead of handing you a larger file.

Does compress keep selectable text?

Accepted Answer

High quality and Balanced try to keep text selectable by shrinking photos inside the PDF. Smallest rebuilds each page as an image so the file can shrink further — the page still looks readable, but text is no longer selectable or searchable. That tradeoff is labeled in the tool.

Can I merge PDFs in a custom order?

Yes. Add files, then drag page thumbnails to reorder (or use the arrows on a phone). Remove a page with the × on its card.

How do I split a PDF?

Click page thumbnails to choose pages (shift-click for a range), or type a shortcut such as 1-3, 5, 8-10. You can also export every page as its own file in a ZIP.

Does this work on a phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes for smaller files. Large scans can freeze a mobile tab. Stay under about 15 MB and 80 pages on a phone, or switch to a desktop browser.

Can I use this for work?

Yes. The tool is free for personal and commercial use. You are responsible for the rights to the documents you process and for following the law.

What about password-protected PDFs?

PdfKit cannot open encrypted or password-protected PDFs. Remove the password in another tool you trust, then drop the unlocked file here.

Do you use cookies or ads?

The toolkit does not set cookies to process files. Page views may be counted with Vercel Web Analytics. This site does not use advertising cookies or ad networks.
